Na starom karavanskom putu putu od Sarajeva koji je vodio preko Romanije bilo je na svakih desetak ilometara po jedan han za odmor , konak i svratiste putnika, vojnih i trgovackih karavana. Jedan od ovih hanova bio je i Han-Pijesak ,oko koga se dosta kasnije formira istoimeno naselje.Evlija Celebija 1664. godine na putu od Sarajeva prema Zvorniku pominje na hanpjesackom prostoru  nekoliko hanova oko kojih se kasnije formiraju manja ili veca naselja( Han-Pijesak, Han-Pogled, Han-Mackovac, Han-Hanic.). Ova naselja bila su najveca i najznacajnija. Podrucje  Han-Pijeska se nalazio na raskrsnici puta koji ga je povezivao sa Srebrenicom i dolinom Drine, drugi kraj ove raskrsnice vodio je ka Vlasenici i Zvorniku,a treci je vodio prema Sokocu,i preko Romanije ka Sarajevu. Han-Pogled je imao strategijski znacaj  u vrijeme opste esigurnosti putnika za vrijeme vladavine Turaka, izlozenihnapadima odmetnika Od ovog hana se siri pogled preko Birca , prema Majevici, Drini i Srbiji, te je zbog toga dobio ime Pogled. Prema vjerovanju Han-Pijesak je dobio ime po stalnim zalbama majstora graditelja hana-da im je los pijesak za zidanje. Drugih odataka u vezi sa imenom ovog naselja nema. Vremenom se na relativno sirokom prostoru izmedju Sokoca i Vlasenice ukazala potreba za administrativnim sredistem  koje bi obuhvatalo sela kojima su okolna naselja gradskog tipa bila relativno daleka.Dolaskom austrougarske izgradjena je i zeljeznicka pruga prema Zavidovicima , a zatim i drum duz starog karavankog puta. Ovo je uvecalo znacaj Han-Pijeska pa se postepeno oko nekadasnjeg hana pocelo formirati i naselje radnika-drvosjeca koje se prvi put pominje 1895.godine . Do Prvog Svjetskog  rata  ovde takoreci nije ni bilo naselja sem hana i nekoliko sumskih baraka na raskrsnici puta Sarajevo-Zvornik. Po zavrsetku rata Han-Pijesak okuplja i oko sebe privlaci sela koja su do tada bila orjentisana ka okolnim naseljima gradskog tipa.

HISTORY

On the old caravan road from Sarajevo which led across Romanija at every ten kilometeres you could find a resting place for just a rest, sleepover and a place where travellers of army and merchant caravans stopped at. One of these was Han-Pijesak, afterwards around which formed a town with the same name.
Evlija Celebija in the year 1664 on the road to Sarajevo towards Zvornik mentions on the location of Han Pijesak a few resting places around which afterwards formed smaller or larger communities (Han Pijesak, Han Pogled, Han Mackovac,Han Hanic). These communities where the biggest and the most important. The area of Han Pijesak was found on the crossing of the road which connected it to Srebrenica and the bootom part of Drina, the other end of this crossing led towards Vlasenica and Zvornik , and the thirs led towards Sokolac, and across Romanija towards Sarajevo. Han Pogled had strategic importance at a time when security was very bad for the travellers at the time of the ruling of the Turks, exposed to the attacks of the renegates. From this resting place the view spreds over Birac,towards Majevica, Drina and Srbija, and that's why it's name is Pogled.

 According to the beliefs Han Pijesak got it's name due to the constant complaints of the craftsman which bulit the city - that the soil is bad for building housed. There are no other facts about the name of this town. Through time in a relatively wast space in between Sokolac and Vlasenica there arouse a need for an administrative center which would take in all the villages where the communities where the towns were relatively distant.
With the comming of the Austrian buildings a railway was built toward Zavidovici, and afterwards a road along the old caravan road. This increased the importance of Han Pijesak and slowly around the old resting place for travellers a community started to form and a community of worksmen or forestmen which is first mentioned in the year of 1895. Up unitl the First World War, you could say that that there were no other communities other than a few resting places and forest houses on the crossing on the road from Sarajevo to Zvornik. After the war Han Pijesak brings in local villages which up until then were oriented towards the larger communities which were constructed as larger cities.
