Narodna Osnovna skola u Han-Pijesku otvorena je 1908. god. na inicijativu Srpskog prosvjetnog drustva u Sarajevu. To je bila prva skola na Romaniji. Pocela je sa radom sa 45 ucnika i prvi ucitelji su bili Stjepan Krstic i Krsto Savic. Skola nije radila za vrijeme Prvog i Drugog svjetskog rata.
1943.g. skola je zapaljena od strane ustasa.
1951. god u Han-Pijesku je otvorena osmogodisnja skola sa 184 ucenika . Tada se nastava izvodila u domu "Partizan". Broj ucenika i nastavnika se povecavao iz godine u godinu i pomenuti objekat je postao pretjesan, tako da je 8. marta 1960. g. zavrsena nova skolska zgrada. Ovu skolu pohadjaliali su ucenici sa citave opstine. Prva skolska ekskurzija izvedena je 1961. god. Te godine skola je dobila ime "Milan Ilic Cica  Sumadijski" po narodnom heroju iz Sumadije koji je poginuo 1942.g. u Pjenovcu. Od tada pa do danas skola radi pod ovim imenom.
25. maja 1982.godine potpisana je Povelja o bratimljenju OS "Milan Ilic Cica Sumadijski" Han-Pijesak i OS  "Kosta Djukic" iz Mladenovca.
skola danas ima 389 ucenika rasporedjenih u 18 odjeljenja , nastavu izvodi 24 nastavnika a ukupno je zaposleno 35 radnika.
U toku poslednjeg rata skola je ostvarila saradnju sa Grckom i atinskom opstinom Vule. Ova saradnja se i danas odrzava.

Srednja Skola

Srednja Skola u Han-Pijesku pocela je sa radom 1964. godine kao gimnazija "Svetozar KosoricSa reformom skolstva 1979. godine prelazi u RO srednjeg usmjerenog obrazovanja i vaspitanja u kojoj se skoluju ucenici u ekonomskoj, upravno-tehnickoj sumarskoj i drvopreradjivackoj, poljoprivrednoj, masinskoj i elektrotehnickoj struci. Od 1987. godine Srednja skola u Han-Pijesku postaje podrucno odjeljenje Srednje skole Sokolac i kao takva egzistira i danas.
Od skolske 1995/96 ponovo se uvodi gimnazija i radi kao gimnazija do skolske 2000/01 kada se pored gimnazije ponovo uvodi sumarska struka. Danas u skoli postoje gimnazija, sumarska i saobracajna skola. Skola raspolaze kabinetima za informatiku, matematiku i fiziku, biologiju i hemiju, i radinicom za saobracajnu struku.
Nastavu izvodi 27 profesora i saradnika iz Han-Pijeska i Sokoca.

Narodna biblioteka u Han-Pijesku postoji od 1950.god. Prosla je dug put u svom razvoju. Bastini tradiciju Narodne citaonice i knjiznice, Opste narodne biblioteke i Narodnog univerziteta. Biblioteka ima veoma zanimljivu proslost, i odigrala je znacajnu ulogu u obrazovanju , vaspitanju i kulturnom zivotu svih njenih korisnika i sire drustvene zajednice.

Danas biblioteka broji 22150 biblioteckih jedinica i presla je na automatizovanu obradu podataka po VINAJSISU. To podrazumjeva na jednom mjestu klasifikaciju, bibliografsku obradu podataka, a o svim prispjelim publikacijama , a retrospektivno se unose podaci za publikacije koje vec postoje u fondu. Obrada se radi po usvojenom medjunarodnom standardu ISBDN u softverskom Vinajsis paketu, koristeci aplikaciju BIBLIO.

U Narodnoj biblioteci Han-Pijesak rade odjeljenja:

Zavicajno odjeljenje,
Djecije

odjeljenje za odrasle i

Citaonica.

U okviru Narodne biblioteke nalazi se i galerija. Ideja moderne i fleksibilne biblioteke je sve prisutnija pa citaoci lakse dolaze do potrebnih informacija.

Narodna biblioteka Han-Pijesak razlikuje se i pozna po svojoj spomen sobi Kardjordjevica.

Centar za kulturu i sport "Pogled"

Centar za kulturu i sport "Pogled" Han-Pijesak osnovan je aprila mjeseca 2001. godine. Centar raspolze sa dva objekta izuzetne vrijednosti- kino dvoranom prilagdjenom potrebama male scene, kapaciteta 250 mjesta i sportskom dvoranom prilagodjenom za takmicenja u malim sportovima.
Rad centra usmjeren je ka razvijanju kulturne politike na podrucju ops¡tine putem raznih kulturnih, sportskih, zabavnih i obrazovnih aktivnosti.

Od kulturnih desavanja znacajno je pomenuti gostiovanja Gorice Popovic, Danila Lazovica, Zorana Simonovica i glumaca Amaterskog pozorista Kulturnog centra iz Pala.
U protekle 3. godine, koliko centar postoji , posjetila su nas mnoga kulturno-umjetnicka drustva  iz Republike Srpske i Srbije.
Povodom obiljezavanja 200. godina od Prvog srpskog ustanka gost je bila Svetlana Stevic iz Beograda Odrzan je jedan broj likovnih izlozba ikona Branke Novakovic, izlozbaba portreta znamenitih Srba 19. vijeka,izlozba slika nase sugradjanke Milke Tosic,  slikara amatera i druge.
U oblasti sporta aktivnosti su uglavnom usmjerene una organizovanje takmicenja u malim sportovima.
U okviru Centra osnovana je skola folklora koja sada egzistira kao KUD "Sveti Pantelejmon". Aktivnosti i ciljevi Drustva su njegovanje tradicije i obicaja srpskog naroda.

Kulturno-umjetnicko drustvo Sveti Pantelejmon

Drustvo iza sebe ima tradiciju dugu dvadeset sedam godina. Osnovano je 1978. godine, na inicijativu Omladinske organizacije, i djelovalo je pod nazivom “Svetozar Kosoric”, sve do devedesetih godina, kada izvjesno vrijeme prestaje sa radom. Rad Drustva ponovo je aktiviran 2001.godine i danas nosi naziv “Sveti Pantelejmon”, po svetitelju koji se proslavlja kao Krsna slava clanova:skolske djece, studenata i radnika.
U okviru Drustva je i izvorna pjevacka grupa.

Programski ciljevi Drustva su:
-cuvanje i njegovanje tradicije i identiteta srpskog naroda, kroz narodne igre, pjesme i obicaje,
-sakupljanje materijala iz proslosti sa ovog podrucja radi osnivanja Zavicajnog doma (mini-etno muzeja),
-razvijanje saradnje sa srodnim drustvima.

Folklorni ansambl iza sebe ima niz znacajnih nastupa u RS i inostranstvu.

The local community elementery school in Han Pijesak was openeredin the year of 1908 on the initiative of the Serbian Education Group in Sarajevo. That was the first school in Romanija. It started with the work of 45 students and the first teachers were Stjepan Krstic and Krsto Savic. The school was not opet during the time of the first and second World WAR.
In the year of 1943 the school was burny down.
In the year of 1951 in Han Pijesak an 8-year school was opened with 184 students. The classes at that time wer held in the home of 'Partizans'. The number of students and teachers increased from year to year and the mentioned object became too small so in March 8. 1960 the new school building was finsished. Students from all over the communities and local villages atteneded this school. The first studendt escursion took place in the year of 1961. In that year the school got it's name "Milan Ilic Cica Sumadijski" after the national hero from Sumadija who died in the year of 1942 in han Pijesak in Pjenovac. From then up until now the school works under this name.
In May 25 in the year of 1982 a petition was signed to change the name to "Milan Ilic - Cica sumadijski" Han Pijesak and  "Kosta Djukic" from Mladenovac.
The school now has 389 students arranged in 18 classes , the class is held by 24 teachers and alltogether 35 pwople are employed in the school.
During the last war the school established a connection with Greece and the Athenian community of Vule. This communication is stil held today.

High School

The high school in Han Pijesak started to work in 1964 as a standard high school named "Svetozar Kosoric". With the reform of education in 1979 it's formed into a school with organized courses educations with specialized classes in economy, technical, forestry and wood-working,inustrial,mechanical and electrical occupations.From the year 1987 the highs school in in High Pijesak becomes a part of the scholing area in Sokolac and that's how it exist up until now.
From the school year 1995/96 the standard high school is brought in again and it works up until the year of 2000/01 where besides the standard specialization the forestry coursed are brought in again.
Today in the school there are the standard, forestry, and traffic-communication specialized courses.
The school contains cabinets for informatics, mathematics and phisics, biology and chemistry, and a work area for the traffic-communication courses.
The class is held by 27 proffesors and colleuges from Han Pijesak and Sokolac.

The national library in Han Pijesak exist since the year of 1950. It went through a long process in it's development. The traditions of the national reading place and the stack library, the Standard National Library and the National University.The library has a very intreasting past, and it played an important role in education, learning and the cultrual life of it's users and the wider social community.

Today the library holds 22150 books and it chaged to automatical transformation of data after VINAJSIS. That includes classification in one spot, bibliographical transformation of data, and all other incoming publications , and retrospectively the facts about publications which are already in the fund. The process is done in an accepted international standardISBDN in a software software Vinajsis packet, using the application BIBLIO.

In the area of the National Library you can find a gallery. The idea of a modern and flexible libraryis there to give the reader easier acces to needed information.

The National library of Han Pijesak is differnt by it's old room of the Karadjordjevic, the old and rare book which confirms the thoughts about culture and it's complete thoughts about reality and infinity.


The Centar for culture and sport "Pogled"

The center for culture and sport "Pogled" Han Pijesak was established in the month of April in the year of 2001. Center consists of two buildings which are of great value- with a theatre roomwith the use of the small theatre room, which has the capacity of 150 seats created for the competitions in in-door sports.
The working of the center is oriented towards the growth of cultural politics in the area of the town by the way of cultural, sport, social and educational activities.
From cultural happenings it's important to mention the visits of Gorica Popovic,Danila Lazovic, Zorana Simonovic, Drago Milovic and the actors of Ameatuer theaters of the Cultural Center from Pale.
In the last 3 years, for how long the center exists, we were cvisited by many cultural-artistic groups from the Republic of Serbian and Serbia.
For the celebration of 200 years from the First Serbian Uprising our guest was Svetlana Stevic from Belgrade. A number of artistic expositions have been held: The display of the icons of Branka Novakovic, The display of portraits of famous Serbs of the 19th century, the display of our townswoman Milka Tosic, Painters, ameatures and others.
In the area of spoorts the activities are mostly oriented towards organizing championships in indoor sports.
In the area of the Center a school of folklore has been established which now exists as a KUD which stands for a Cultural, Artistic Group "Saint Pantelejmon". The activities and the aims of the group are the treasurinf of traditions and ways of the Serbian people.
